Copy paper making machine 2640mm
2,640 mm Writing and Printing Paper Machine Project – 52–56 Tons per Day
Project Overview
In 2019, our company completed the supply, installation, and commissioning of a paper machine designed for the production of writing and printing paper.
The production line is designed to manufacture office copy paper, offset printing paper, printing paper, and writing paper. It has a trimmed paper width of 2,640 mm and a design speed of 350 m/min. During commercial operation, the machine runs steadily at speeds of 260–320 m/min.
The project is designed to use bleached market pulp as its primary raw material, with a particular focus on the production of 70 and 80 gsm office paper, two of the most widely used grades for everyday printing and copying.

Paper Grades Produced
The production line is designed to manufacture a range of writing and printing paper grades, including:
Office copier paper
Offset printing paper
Laser printing paper
Writing paper
Paper for school exercise books and notebooks
The main commercial grades are 70 gsm and 80 gsm paper, which are widely used for everyday printing and photocopying.
Raw Materials
The primary raw material is bleached market wood pulp.
Bamboo pulp and bagasse pulp can also be blended into the furnish when required, providing flexibility in raw material selection.
Main Equipment Configuration
The production line is equipped with an open-type hydraulic headbox featuring an air cushion and two rectifier rolls.
The stock preparation and approach flow system includes:
A high-level deaerator
Multi-stage pressure screens
Centrifugal cleaners
A stock delivery system operating at approximately 0.40–0.70% consistency
The forming section adopts a conventional single-wire Fourdrinier configuration, approximately 15.6 m in length.
It is equipped with ceramic dewatering elements, sectional vacuum boxes, a 900 mm diameter vacuum couch roll, and automatic forming fabric tensioning and guiding systems.
Press and Dryer Sections
The press section includes a vacuum-assisted sheet transfer system, a vacuum pre-press, and a three-roll, two-nip press arrangement (K-Press).
The designed sheet dryness after pressing is 43–46%, helping reduce thermal energy consumption in the dryer section.
The dryer section is equipped with 1,800 mm diameter drying cylinders arranged in a single horizontal row.
The standard configuration includes an open dryer hood, a condensate recovery system, and a basic heat recovery system.
Space is provided between the pre-dryer and after-dryer sections for surface sizing equipment.
Surface Sizing
For the production of office and printing paper, the machine is equipped with a Film Size Press.
Surface sizing provides several important benefits:
Improves paper surface strength
Reduces dusting during printing
Enhances print quality
Improves paper runnability in high-speed copiers and printing equipment
The film size press is an important component in modern office paper production, helping ensure consistent surface properties and reliable printing performance.
Calendering and Reeling
A two-roll hard-nip calender is installed after the dryer section to provide the required paper smoothness and density.
The finishing section is equipped with a horizontal reel capable of producing parent rolls up to 1,800 mm in diameter, ensuring stable winding of the finished paper.
Drive and Control System
All major machine sections are equipped with independent AC drives with variable-frequency control.
A centralized PLC control system coordinates the operation of the different machine sections, ensuring synchronized operation and stable production.
Project Results
Since commissioning in 2019, the production line has been successfully used to manufacture office paper, offset printing paper, and writing paper.
The project has demonstrated reliable machine operation across the 50–120 gsm basis weight range, together with consistent product quality for office and commercial printing applications.
