4600mm Fluting Paper Machine - 310–340 TPD
4,600 mm High-Strength Fluting Paper Machine Project in Jiangsu, China
Project Overview
In March 2022, our company completed the installation and commissioning of a high-strength fluting paper machine for a paper mill in Jiangsu Province, China.
The production line was designed to manufacture high-strength fluting paper using 100% recycled Old Corrugated Containers (OCC). It is engineered for reliable, continuous industrial operation and supplies medium-basis-weight packaging paper for corrugated board manufacturers.
The machine has a trimmed paper width of 4,600 mm and a design speed of 550 m/min. Under normal production conditions, it operates at speeds of 380–480 m/min, with a daily output of approximately 310–340 tons.

Main Equipment Configuration
The paper machine is equipped with a hydraulic headbox with an air-cushion system, together with a stock preparation and approach flow system incorporating a high-level deaerator and multi-stage cleaning equipment.
The single-wire Fourdrinier forming section has an effective length of approximately 16 meters and includes:
Ceramic dewatering elements
Sectional vacuum boxes
A 900 mm diameter vacuum couch roll
Automatic forming fabric tensioning system
Automatic forming fabric guiding system
This configuration provides stable sheet formation when processing recycled OCC pulp.
Press Section
After leaving the forming section, the paper web passes through a vacuum-assisted transfer system, a vacuum pre-press, and a two-nip K-Press arrangement.
The designed sheet dryness after pressing reaches approximately 43–45%.
Effective mechanical dewatering helps reduce the thermal load on the dryer section and lowers steam consumption during paper production.
Dryer Section
The dryer section consists of 30 drying cylinders, each with a diameter of 1,800 mm, arranged in a single row.
To improve thermal efficiency, the drying system incorporates:
A fully enclosed dryer hood
A heat recovery system
Independent drives for individual dryer groups
A siphon-based condensate removal and return system
The fully enclosed dryer hood helps maintain stable temperature and humidity conditions, minimizes heat loss, and supports reliable high-speed operation.
Calendering and Reeling
A two-roll hard-nip calender is installed after the dryer section to improve paper density and compression resistance.
At the end of the production line, an automated reel equipped with a reel spool magazine enables automatic spool changes during parent roll formation.
The maximum parent roll diameter is 1,800 mm.
Drive System
All major sections of the paper machine are equipped with independent variable-frequency AC drives.
The drive system provides precise speed synchronization between the different machine sections, ensuring stable operation under varying production conditions.
Project Results
Since commissioning in 2022, the production line has been successfully used for commercial production of high-strength fluting paper with a basis weight of 110–160 g/m².
The project has demonstrated:
